A pin I came across in a grab bag of jewelry

This thing is pretty cool, it pictures a futuristic space shuttle, a catwalk and a few inscriptions. Federal Aviation Administration. Knowledge Professionalism Safety. And the last one reads....,Maintenance Technician Awards Program. The red thing in the middle is not a stone, it's actually made of a rubber like material... not sure what it was but I dented it pretty good with my fingernail testing it and a day later the dent was gone... I'm thinking a possible space age material... but nothing to build a space shuttle with sadly :(::::
